In order to give the best service possible, LaChoclatier Bakery as well as other professional wedding vendors will ask that you set up an appointment if you expect more than 50 guests. Choosing a special custom cake is not always "simple" especially when it's your wedding cake. LaChoclatier Bakery offers a large array of designs that are consistently changing with every couple's wants and needs. Take time to choose every aspect of your wedding carefully. You will be happier with the outcome in the long run. 

You may schedule a private cake consultation with our cake designer/baker prior to placing your wedding cake order. Your consultation will include tasting of up to four cake flavors of your choice, three icings and fillings. You will be able to look through our photo books and select the style and size of your cake. 

Wedding consultations are free of charge. However, we require a $25 deposit to secure your reservation. Your consultation will not be booked without providing the consultation deposit. The deposit will be applied to the balance of your cake when you book the date. In the event of a no-show or cancellation within 72-hours of the consultation, the consultation deposit will be forfeited.

Once we receive your call or email we will follow-up and confirm the consultation date and time. Consultations will be scheduled/confirmed based on the availability of the cake designer/baker. 

PLEASE NOTE: Your appointment is not confirmed unless LaChoclatier Bakery has responded to your request with a phone call or email confirming the consultation date and time, and your consultation deposit has been paid. 

Please limit your party size to no more than three people due to the limited space in our consultation room. We will prepare a small cake of each flavor selected. Once your samples have been chosen, any changes in cake, icing and/or filling must be made prior to 72 hours of your appointment. Additional samples and other items may be purchased separately at the normal retail price. If a premium or "chunky" icing has been chosen, an additional cost will apply (pricing will vary dependant upon the flavor(s) chosen). 

We will hold on to the paperwork from your consultation for 4 weeks after the day of the consultation. This paperwork/artwork will remain property of the bakery and will not be provided. If a final decision has not been made within this period then we will assume you will not be ordering a cake and the paperwork will be removed from our files. It is up to you to let us know of your final decision in less than 4 weeks after the consultation. After 4 weeks, no refund nor credit will be provided. Effective 3/1/2010, if you decide to go with another bakery then an in-store credit in the amount of $25 will be provided to you at that time. 

The cake decorator/baker you meet with can answer follow up questions should you have any. Effective 3/1/2010, if you would like another cake tasting then another consultation will need to be scheduled. Follow up consultations require an appointment. Follow up consultations are $50 for up to 45-minutes. This fee will not be applied to the cost of the cake and is non-refundable for any reason. Your original $25 consultation deposit is unaffected. 

LaChoclatier Bakery takes limited number of wedding cake orders per weekend on a first come, first served basis. An appointment is only scheduled when a firm date and reception site has been chosen by the bridal couple and the date is available for us to commission your custom cake. (NOTE: It is not unusual for us to be booked 12 months in advance.) 

When planning a wedding, the cost of all aspects can become overwhelming. It is best to have a budget in mind for everything including the wedding cake. Custom wedding cakes can become expensive when you add lots of extras to a basic style butter cream cake (IE: gold painting, gum paste flowers, fondant, marbling, drop lace, custom lace, pearls, beading, etc.) The more labor that goes into a cake the more the cost. At LaChoclatier Bakery we help you choose the perfect cake for your special day to stay within your budget. 

Be sure to bring your planning book, ideas for cake size and styles you like, have your cake budget in mind. You may also wish to bring any color swatches, ribbons, pictures, etc. you have collected. In the event that a color sample is not provided to us then we cannot guarantee an exact color match. 

If there is any way that you can make other arrangements for your children, it might be best. We love kids, don't get us wrong, it's just that we know from experience that younger children may have a hard time sitting quietly for an hour. We want you to have a great experience while you are here, not a stressful one. Picking out a wedding cake may be more involved than you might anticipate. 

Please call if you are running late and we will let you know how tightly we are scheduled that particular day. If you are within a few minutes of your appointment time, it’s not a problem. If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late then you may need to reschedule based on our availability. If you need to cancel, please give us 72 hours notice so that we may call people on our waiting list. 

If we have received a cancellation notice within 72 hours of your original appointment then the consultation deposit can be used to schedule another consultation at a different date and time subject to availability. Cancellations or requests to reschedule within less than 72 hours of the original consultation date/time are not permitted and will result in forfeiting of the consultation deposit. 

No. You are under no obligation to book with us at your initial consultation. You may book if you want to, but we want you to feel comfortable with your decision. We will be happy to provide you with a written estimate (good for 30 days) should you decide that you would like some time to think. 

Absolutely. We will incorporate elements from an online or magazine picture that you bring in to us, and make a unique design that is similar to the picture you have. As a bakery that specializes in custom cakes, we feel it is unethical to copy someone else’s design exactly. Keep in mind that if you present us with a picture of another bakery’s cake then the final product may differ slightly from the picture provided. Please bring as clear of a printed picture as possible (cell phone pictures will not be accepted). 

50% of the final total is required at the time of booking and can be in the form of cash, check, charge, or debit card. Your 50% deposit is non-refundable and is required at the time you sign the cake contact. The balance may be paid in installment, if you wish, but must be completely paid for within 14 days of your wedding. Checks will not be accepted within 14 days of the wedding date.
